A sad tale, A Weimaraner so dear, Gone but never forgotten, My BEST Friend, My Peppy, RIP my loving friend, The loss of a loved one

KONICA MINOLTA DIGITAL CAMERA

….whom I have no more…..Earlier this evening, I held him for the last time…. For 12 years he has followed my every step, to and fro wherever I went….I am proud and honoured to have been his human – he trained me so well!! …now, he can rest in peace….and enjoy the sweet dreams I wished him as he passed…My heart is broken……………….

Already missing for some time here on blogville, as life has been getting in the way…. I am taking a little moment to say, after tonight, and my heartbreaking event, I am taking an indefinite blogging break, whilst I mourn my constant companion and best friend of the last twelve years ! This, on top of recent globally reported events, of such sad and tragic losses of innocent lives, not even twelve miles from where I live, is more than I wish to comprehend in my life atm I’m sure you will understand if I do not respond/reply any time soon to any comments. Life is hard for many reasons and my heart is also broken for the loss of all those innocent young lives lost for no reason!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The lump in my throat is so large I cannot say more at this time…I wish everyone good health and happiness as I share a few more pics of my beloved Peppy….xxxx…at peace now……………………………

‘He’s being a baby again!’ All his life, he suckled on soft animals for comfort, I think, as he had such a severe case of separation anxiety, he couldn’t bear to be out of sight with me at any point in any of our days together…even a trip to the bin without him would result in a greeting, as if he hadn’t seen me for weeks!

My puppy – Peppy…The very first pastel portrait I did of him when he was still just a little pup…has always hung above my head watching down on what I do on the computer each and every day, and now I have his company still, immortalised, even though not still here…….

Hettie – Why So Sad? A special pastel portrait of Hetti, Peppy’s sibling

‘Its Peppy – Again!’ Abstract Version

‘Its Peppy – Again!’ (In Sepia this time!!)

Double trouble lol two combined portrait versions of Peppy, in his youth, out in our back garden…He was always such a handsome chap!

What!!! wake up NOW??!!

Peppy 130216 10.5 yrs

I, hereby judge myself the most handsome Weimaraner ever!!!!!!! Spoilt…Moi – well… just a little bit……….perhaps 😉

Peppy 170116

Look !!!! I caught the snowball ….  😀

……Still, in my broken heart………and forever………………………………

Sometimes...it's just nice to touch base with the simpler things in life, like a piece of paper and a pencil! :-) Recently, I did a little gift swap with another WP blogger, MRS. P ! From the wonderful craftodessey! Part of it was for a little pencil sketch of my adorable heritage bunny, when it arrived - with an unexpected little companion, knitted Lamb! My little bunny was given to me with a lovely letter telling me about her history. She was sent to be my new apprentice from the Workhouse. If you are new to all of what is going on here?? then a couple of links might help; https://carentaylor.wordpress.com/2015/09/25/im-in-love-3-3-3-how-lucky-am-i-d/ https://craftodyssey.wordpress.com/2015/09/29/the-story-behind-wallis-russell/

I started Large…A  16 x20 inch mounted pencil portrait…….to give extra detail! Sometimes, as an artist…it’s just nice to touch base with the simpler things in life, like a piece of paper and a pencil! 🙂 Though, the paper is of the exquisite kind – 100% cotton, rough grade 140lbs/300g/sq m which I thinks added a lot of texture to the finished pieces!

The two little sketches I did for Mrs. P of her lovingly handmade and gifted (to me) knitted bunny, Wallis Russell and Lamb. Which The RM Postie delivered just yesterday as her surprise 🙂

Carried away by the moment – I seem unable to stop at the one I first thought I would do…..After all it is always nice to get an extra surprise!! 😀

....and so the sketches continue ;-) Watch this space for more tiny and large Wallis nand Lamb protraits!

A Dog's Life, High maintenance dog's, Peppy the Weimaraner's Birthday - Ten today, Silver Weimaraner's, Worrisome witch

I'm Peppy and YooHoo It's my birthday Today!!! .....10 and looking Goooood! A Weim....certainly NOT past his prime ;-)

I’m Peppy!.. and, YooHoo It’s my birthday Today!!! …..10 and looking Goooood!
A Weim….certainly NOT past his prime 😉

I’m, convinced my ‘mum’ has been trying to become a professional worrier over the past few weeks, whilst also, working on many various projects – over many one thing or another in the hope it might earn her a well paid job…More likely to turn her completely grey, like me, in my opinion ;-/!

I was getting worried that she had forgotten my ''SPECIAL'' Birthday, even though I have trotted obediently behind her - at merely five centimetres distance from her, for 3601 days since she brought me home at seven weeks old! Being the attentive Weim I am, never once have I given her space, if she leaves me in a room, I howl, If she takes me to the kennels, I howl monstrously - till they call for her to collect me, if she lies in bed after 6.30, I howl - goodness knows, I have this howl lark off to a T! As my 'dad' says....'He's got you wrapped around his dew claw!!!' I can safely say, I've been more high maintenance, than her two human offspring in my ten years - now that has to merit some kind of birthday treat surely???? :-(

BOY, I Look cute! Anyways, I was getting worried that she had forgotten my ”SPECIAL” Birthday, even though I have trotted obediently behind her – at merely five centimetres distance from her, for, roughly, 3601 days, since she brought me home at seven weeks old! Being the attentive Weim I am, never once, AND I do mean, NEVER ONCE,  have I given her space LOL! If she leaves me in a room, I HOWL( Big time), If she takes me to the kennels, I HOWL monstrously – till they call for her to collect me, if she lies in bed after 6.30, I HOWL((This has to be my bestest one…’cos, I’m hungry – right!!) – goodness knows, I have this HOWL lark off to a T! As my ‘dad’ says….’He’s got you wrapped around his dew claw!!!’ I can safely say, I’ve been more high maintenance, than her two human offspring in my ten years – now that has to merit some kind of birthday treat, surely????
😦 Still waiting??!!!

OMGoodness - She remembered - eventually:-D BUT, then I had to listen to the cat''s choir (She's tone deaf!!) singing ''Happy Birthday to you....Happy Birthday to You...(and all the rest)...........Whilst I drooled uncontrollably and held my paw 'beautifully all through that nonsense........Till...................eventually.....she gave me the Birthday treat! HALF a 'Bl...y' carrot!!!!!!!! Can you believe it???, I had to wait for the other half, till my ''''sibling brother got up, four hours later, at least his singing was in tune!

I must say….at least my mum’s photography skills  although limited, as well as my well placed raised paw, have managed to omit my extra girth these past few years. All in all, getting a compete carrot in one day – was my best Birthday Treat ever!

'Its Peppy - Again!'(In Sepia this time!!)

‘Its Peppy – Again!’
(In Sepia this time!!)

In this pose he really does look as if he’s thinking ” She’s got that camera thing – again!”  Obviously, I did this pastel drawing from a photograph I took of Peppy, and the real reason he looks like he’s concentrating – is because – I had a dog sausage treat on my head,  to keep his attention. (Naturally I omitted the drool from the finished portrait!) This is the second pastel picture of this same pose, below I will show you the first. The reason for this, is my Daughter stopped me in my tracks, whilst drawing the first. She came in and saw the preliminary stage of how I do my pastel portraits and pleaded with me to leave it as an abstract version. I was not wholly convinced and assured her that all my portraits look like the one below before I blend them to how I prefer them, (See Other examples of my Animal portraits in this section) as above.  Anyway, for the sake of comparison, its like before(BELOW) and after(ABOVE), really. Though she still maintains some people like abstract portraits of their pets too!!! Who knows – She may be right…..But then, She thinks She’s never wrong anyway! 🙂

Peppy times two!

Peppy times two!

This painting is of my own Weimaraner, Peppy. Both the images are of him. I wanted to do a watercolour painting of him but couldn’t decide which image to use. In the end I combined both! Lovely image but scary thought – One Peppy is quite enough. As most Weimaraner owners would probably admit, they don’t think they are dogs, I actually do think He thinks he is human! Its almost like having a baby but it never grows up!! They are a beautiful but demanding breed. See other paintings/drawings of Peppy and his litter sister, Hettie in Animal portraits

'Petit Griffon Basset Vendeen'

‘Petit Griffon Basset Vendeen’

This was a pet portrait done from a photograph of a show dog (Name of dog to be withheld for security – it won a lot of shows!!!) It was partly owned by the breeders from whom we got our Weimaraner, Peppy. In this pet portrait I decided to be loose and free with the pastel and let the image fall onto the paper rather than my normal method of blending. I quite liked the outcome and effect but I still to prefer to be more precise for portraiture, especially for commission purposes unless asked otherwise!

Peppy - 'Who woke me up?'

Peppy – ‘You woke me up?’Origina

This is another portrait of my Weimarnaner, ‘Peppy’ (See others of him in Animal Portraits;   Weimaraner Pastel Pet Portrait – My dog Peppy as a pup, Weimaraner and his toy – Pastel portrait of Peppy  ). At the time I went to take the photograph he was fast asleep and looked really cute, snuggled up into a little (rather large actually) ball! As I knelt down and turned the camera on he lifted his head very sleepily as if to say, ‘You woke me up!’, ‘What now?’ But even though he looked like a grumpy old man I still decided to draw the pastel portrait to show another side of a Dog’s Life!!!

Dave's Dog!

Dave’s Dog!

This pastel pet portrait of our friend, Dave’s, Springer Spaniel was done from a photograph he let me borrow in order to add to my portfolio of animal pictures. The blanket is a creation of mine which I have added to a few of my pet portraits, making them I think, more distinctively mine. Other pictures with this blanket can also be seen in Animal Portraits, they are;

Bracco Italiano Dogs – Pastel Pet Portrait,

Pastel Pet Portrait of My Neighbour’s Cat

Cat – Pastel portrait

Of course there are other pet portraits to be seen also drawn without the blanket!
