Titled  ”…98…99…100…come and find us…”

A few years ago I was very excited about the Cubism Style Abstracts (indeed, as I still am) which I had done in pencil Crayon, so much so, I took the same style forward and experimented with oils on canvas. They never cease to amuse and amaze me still..as I can always find something ”new” when they drawn me in 🙂 After there being a little rush on the pencil crayon versions, I thought I would add a couple of my Mounted Oil painted versions into my Shop!

Although already reasonably priced!! I just wanted to highlight, that… I have a special time limited voucher code offer running for just a few short weeks in the run up to the Festive Season, which is not limited just to artwork, but across my whole shop…..see below…

…Save 15% off GRABABARGAIN2016 Ends… 1st of December, 2016!!!!!!! Use this limited time Offer Discount Code and Save, Save, Save on all purchases over £20.00 GBP!!

With Christmas on the horizon…could it be just the ‘something’  you are looking for as a Unique Gift for someone very special..??..OR maybe you prefer…

penguin-hailing-a-taxi

Titled ‘…Penguin hailing a taxi…”

I bet you can find it straight away?? 😉

Anyways, if you like unique Original Artwork and/OR Handcrafted uniquely designed items..??..please do check out my little Etsy Shop and perhaps….

GRABABARGAIN2016

Hope you enjoy the Cubism and would love to read what images you can see in the blended black and white oils..??.. Happy searching!! ;-D

Affetside Farm i An original oil painting on 14'' x 11'' canvas panel Being so pleased with my monochrome painting of 'Lake District Bridge' I immediately started this yesterday, a local scene which I previously did in soft pastels.

I was so happy with my monochrome painting of ‘Lake District Bridge’ I immediately started this yesterday, a local farm, which I previously drew in soft pastels. Again, I love the simplicity of the black and white landscape..it gives a lovely feel to the scene 🙂

An Original Oil Painting – Affetside Farm – on 14” x 11” canvas panel. Revisiting a previous artwork with new enthusiasm and a different medium!! Click the link to see the pastel version

'Cezanne's "Mount. Saint Victoire" overlooks Renoir - 'Boating on the Seine'

‘Cezanne’s -“Mount. Saint. Victoire” overlooks, Renoir’s- “Boating on the Seine” !’ OR “Rowing on a Mountain Lake”!

This is one of a mini series of paintings I did, working from old Master’s works. I had the idea of trying to seamlessly gel together two different artists’ masterpieces to form one new image (See another example of this in Still Life (Master Compilation Series) -” ‘EAR’, Where’s He Gone?” – Oil Still Life) These two scenes above, painted in oil, I think, work very well together, and it seems completely plausible that this scene could actually exist. Artwork with a twist. If you take away the titles of the Master’s works and I gave it a new title now as an original painting of “Rowing on a mountain lake” Maybe!!!?

'Poppy Perfection'

‘Poppy Perfection’

In this painting the main thing I wanted to convey to the canvas was the transparency of the the petal with the sunlight shining through in the early morning. The reason I titled it ‘Poppy perfection’ was that I caught this flower on photograph at the pinnacle of its existence. It really was a good year in my garden for poppies (See also my other paintings of poppies especially Oil Painting – Still Life – ‘Poppies on Parade’ which was a collection of flowers from my garden) But I still think this was the most perfect and beautiful poppy I think I have ever see. As if to highlight that fact I painted the background quite abstractly to show the comparison. Whilst the background flowers in my opinion needed to be there for the composition of the still life I didn’t want their distraction from the main focus of the Poppy!

"On a Ledge Series" - 'Sleepy Monkey and Wooden Ducks'

“On a Ledge Series” – ‘Sleepy Monkey and Wooden Ducks’

Here we are again at that tidy window ledge, with more still life exhibits! The two ducks I pinched (Borrowed) out of my Daughter’s bedroom where their normal duty is to act as bookends and the monkey was from my Son’s room.  He had a jungle theme many years ago.  This particular still life was done in oil paint, though in the future I will post another of Sleepy Monkey and Wooden Duck (Only one duck next time!) painted in watercolour.

Looking again at this picture, I love how tidy my kitchen worktop is!! Maybe I should do more in this series!!! Below is an explanation of how this set of paintings was born for anyone who hasn’t seen others in the series.

Bored and uninspired one day, I stood in my kitchen wondering what I could draw? Whilst wondering I absent mindedly started tidying and rearranging things on the ledge. I’m not one for nice pot ornaments, rather have slightly wacky or weird decorative things around! So, as I now had a disarrayed pile of things I had moved and a clean window ledge – The idea struck me. I could use it as a little staging area for a series of still life pictures!!!

'Down A Country Lane' - (Oil on Canvas 100 cm x 80 cm)

‘Down A Country Lane’ – (Oil on Canvas 100 cm x 80 cm)

This is a Local Countryside Scene painted in oils on box canvas using brushes  I have also painted this same country track, from the bottom looking up, titled ‘Landscape – ‘Up A Country Lane’ – Oil Landscape also to be seen in this landscape section. Though the two methods of painting were very different, in the other painting I used pieces of cardboard and string to paint with  – NO BRUSHES! They both have a totally different feel to them even though it is the same track.

'Up A Country lane' (Oil on Canvas 100cm x 80cm)

‘Up A Country lane’ (Oil on Canvas 100 cm x 80 cm)

This  Oil Painting of a Local Scene – ‘Up A Country Lane’ was done to try and capture the intensity of the sunlight flooding the quiet lane. It is a little farmers track leading to open countryside. Painting this picture I used only pieces of cardboard and string –No brushes or pallet knives allowed! It is the same technique I used to paint the picture for my Nephew’s wedding (Landscape Oil painting of a Bridge in The Lake District – Also in Landscapes). Look out also for ‘Landscape – ‘Down A Country Lane’ – Oil Landscape also painted in oils on a 100 cm x 80 cm canvas though this time using brushes!

'Poppies in the Wild'

‘Poppies in the Wild’

This oil painting was done from a collection of photographs I had taken of poppies growing in my garden. I selected little bits from the photographs and created this picture, almost in the same way I created by oil painting of ‘Poppies on Parade” also to be found in this ‘Poppy Section’.

I Titled this painting - " 'EAR', Where's He gone?"

I Titled this painting – ” ‘EAR’, Where’s He gone?”

This little painting is the result of playing around one day with Old Master’s Works. I had the idea of ‘gelling’ together two different paintings by two different artists. Of course I can’t take any credit for their artworks in the first place, though I must admit to being very pleased with the idea I had. (It turned out to be a mini series of four so far) Though perspectively challenged I do like the fact that they have seamlessly gelled into one picture. To add to the quirkiness to Whistler’s Mother and Van Gogh’s Chair I think the title I gave it just adds a little fun!

‘ “On a Ledge Series” – Jack and Jill’

For those who have been keeping up with the rag dolls, ‘Jack and Jill’ – from my  “On a Ledge Series”, here as promised is the Oil Painted version. With the oil painting I feel there is somewhat more depth to the work top using the light and shade reflectively as shadows.  All the same subject but done in different media, each having a different feel to them. If you’ve not already, go check out The watercolour version and the pastel version which can also be found in Still Life. There are several more different studies to come in the future of different subjects on the ledge

Below is how I came up with the idea of ‘On a Ledge Series’ for those who have not already seen them;

Bored and uninspired one day, I stood in my kitchen wondering what I could draw? Whilst wondering I absent mindedly started tidying and rearranging things on the ledge. I’m not one for nice pot ornaments, rather have slightly wacky or weird decorative things around!
