……Sloping stealthily, Sally Snail slithers steadily across the shallow sill……

…….suddenly, a soaring screech shatters the silence……

……..stunned, Sally shudders to a sudden stop……

…..she suckers securely for safety…..

……scared, she shrinks speedily into her shiny shell……

…..stifling snivels and sobs silently in the shadows…….

….struck by shock and showered in sadness……

…..as she recalls Simon, her sibling snail….

……snatched, by a sneaky Swallow in the Summer sunshine…….

A purely fictional moment of mad mumbling s …..inspired by a simple snail!

No snails were harmed in the making of this post!

Portrait – Ink Black and White Dot by Dot!

Revisiting dotty madness!

Caren's Creative Canvas & Craft

Another day of ‘Doodling’ ended up with this ‘Dotty’ Ink Creation. The whole image was done one dot at a time. The portrayed illustration is actually from  my imagination- COMPLETELY MADE UP. Though I did take some still life inspiration from a chrysanthemum I had in a vase on the window ledge. I was very pleased with the Hands!

Oil Painting – Still Life – ‘Poppies on Parade’

Another revisit to one of my first posts. I can’t believe how fast last year went by !

Caren's Creative Canvas & Craft

This is an Oil painting I did of My Garden Poppies. It would have been so beautiful if they had really all flowered together like this. Sadly however, not so. Instead I amalgamated several weeks worth of My Garden Poppies flowering, using photographs, as they each had their ‘perfect moment’ Once I was happy I had just the images I wanted, I combined them together in a sketch. Almost like arranging soldiers for inspection. Hence I titled the finish painting “Poppies on Parade”!

Bracco Italiano Dogs – Pastel Pet Portrait

Revisiting some early posts from when I joined WordPress in January 2013

Caren's Creative Canvas & Craft

Dave who is a friend and former schoolmate of my husband was so excited when he got his two new dogs. They were sisters from the same litter. After some sisterly rivalry they settled down ‘perfectly’. Kindly, he sent some photographs of them for me to work from and add to my portfolio of pet portraits.

Below is the second portrait I did of them!

Landscape Oil painting of Entwistle Reservoir

Another early post from last year!

Caren's Creative Canvas & Craft

Of the series of Oil paintings I did of Entwistle Reservoir in Lancashire, this has always been my favourite. When I have had exhibitions in Bolton there are always many people who come up to me and say, “I know exactly where that bend is, I’ve walked it many times!” Who would have thought a simple bend would be so distinctive?! Another reason this is my favourite, is how the light and shadows played out giving the whole picture quite a realistic feel.

Weimaraner and his toy – Pastel portrait of Peppy

Revisiting some earlier posts from last year

Caren's Creative Canvas & Craft

This is a portrait of my dog Peppy. with his favourite toy! It is one of a series of pastel pictures I have done of him over the years. Every time he suckles on his dog we say, ‘He’s being a baby again!’ to which he gives us the look you see above. He also gets and incredible ‘pinkness’ to him around the muzzle and eyes when he is tired or comforted.

BAGS – Patchwork and quilted designer bag

12 Sunday Jan 2014

Another post from my first year on WordPress 🙂

Caren's Creative Canvas & Craft

This bag I designed for total visual impact. It was designed and made as a wheelchair accessory, with little loop handles approx 17″ apart, just perfect for hanging on the back of a wheelchair and to carry simple essentials. Made out of various cottons and deeply contrasting red felts with tiny buttons on the toadstools. It has a triple multi-pocket inside, one of which has a zip. the reverse(see thumbnail below) is of a simpler design, though still allows to be reversible. It also has two magnetic clasps.
