‘Selly Manor – Bournville’

This drawing was done from a photograph I took on a trip to Cadbury World, a chocolate factory near Birmingham. We literally walked around the corner from the Cadbury car park and fell upon the quaintest little village setting. Above, Selly Manor, is one of Birmingham’s oldest buildings dating back originally to around 1300.  Around 1907 it was dismantled, as apparently it was in a bad state of repair, and relocated to its present location in Bournville, as a restoration project by George Cadbury. It now stands as a museum and tourist attraction in the village setting. A beautiful Tudor building!

‘Down The Cobbled Street of Rye’

This detailed pencil drawing was done from an old photograph taken whilst on holiday in the south of England, many years ago.  At the time I took a photograph looking up the street as well, which I also drew in pencil and it can be found in pencil drawings, titled; ‘Up The Cobbled Street in Rye’

Turton Tower, Bolton

A local Historical Tudor Home. Now being looked after by “The Friends of Turton Tower” This beautiful old house is set in vast surrounding woodland. It is also used for local shows, such as Farmer’s markets and Craft fairs. It is one of the venues where I exhibit.

I asked permission to take a photograph of the building as it entailed me having to lie on the footpath under two huge Yew trees to capture the entire building (I didn’t want to be carried away if they thought I was being a bit weird!)

‘Chipping Campden Cottage’ – Cotswolds

This picture was done from a photograph taken whilst on holiday in the Cotswolds several years ago. It is one of our families favourite places to visit in the UK. This particular village has an abundance of sculptured trees and hedges.
