Button Craft – Decorative Wreaths

These little wreaths (Approx 9″ diameter) made from natural twigs were decorated simply by recycling old bits and bobs out of my eclectic array of what some might call ‘junk’. I have many tubs of old buttons, bits of jewellery – most of which are broken or incomplete pieces and miles of ribbons – which are all in little bits too!

Firstly I wrapped around several different, coordinating, varying width ribbons. I then spent a few happy hours routing in my tins until I had found just the old buttons and bits to match up with the ribbon decorated wreaths. Next I attached all the decorative bits using florists wire. As a finishing touch I twisted a long length of embroidery silk to make a twisted hanging loop!

Soft Animals – Penguins in scarves

“Anybody know when the next bus is due?”

These handmade penguins are made from black cotton for their bodies with a small oval piece of pure white Aida stitched  to the front. Bright orange felt had been used to create noses and flipper feet. Small scrap pieces of tartan act as little scarves with finishing touches of tiny buttons and beads for their eyes, lastly small white pompoms for snowballs. Cheerful, decorative soft animals for seasonal display!

“Anyone seen my Lily Pad? It was about this big!”

This Frog ‘Doorstop Dumpy’ was made from the pattern I designed. It was made out of green cottons and patch worked together. I added some coordinating ribbon around the waist  and used old buttons for the Frog’s eyes and to decorated the ribbon. As finishing touches I made a tongue and dragonfly out of fascinate r fabrics. This character ‘Doorstop Dumpy’ will hold back any standard door and decorate your room too!

Cute floating bunny and balloons

This is a handmade original and unique piece of patchwork. It was made from pieces of cotton, canvas, linens and  cotton satin. The wording and decorative swirls were hand embroidered and finished with simple hand quilting.
