Handmade and designed three dimensional Patchwork Cushion Cover

It is not very often I work with the colourful Batik cotton fabrics, I suppose I am more of a traditionalist in some respects, but then make my own boundaries in the design of how I use them in others! The colourful cotton centre panel in this cushion just seemed to keep falling out of my stash, as if urging me to do something with it. Already preprinted with the flowery scene I decided it would make a nice garden backdrop. After collecting coordinating and contrasting coloured cotton pieces I set to work, having in mind a three dimensional figure for the middle. Using lots of different fabrics in this cushion, from lace, cotton, fancy trims, wool for the hair, organza and a plastic butterfly. Eventually they all come together to make this totally unique cushion cover.

Bob, who’s Bob?

I sketched this picture one day and thought it would make a lovely Handmade Cushion Cover Design. So I rifled about in my patchwork cotton fabrics until I found just the colours and patterns I was looking for. I hand appliquéd all the pieces to the centre panel then added some old buttons for eyes and air bubble effects. Then Hand stitched echo quilting on the centre panel and ditched quilted the patchwork seams.

I was really please with the finished decorative designed cushion cover!
