Like It Really Is – by Caren Taylor

I thought I would do something a little different today, a few years ago I had a few of my poems published, below is one of them. It was written, when, for one reason and another, life was being cruel, sadly those hard times seem to be back, though for different reasons now, which is what reminded me about my poetry.

LIKE IT REALLY IS

Each and every one has something to yield

Along through life we all push our barrow

Some are told they are merely just fallow

How often do we need our own core healed

They alone have no right to make fate sealed

What becomes of them to feel so hallow

Their ego gone they are merely shallow

Stripped and laid bare how do they feel when peeled

All have their own search for protection, balm

What choices are left for our deft tussle

Would the cat scream loyalty? No stay calm

Take away the stress, the pain, just bustle

We don’t need your failings or your alarm

Now, go, get on with your life, let’s hustle.

Black and White Confusion?? ”Forgotten Dreams”

Yesterday I posted Abstract – ‘Abstractly Blue’ – Pencil Crayon Abstract which The Rag Tree/Music&Meaning reposted, much to my delight. It did seem to appeal to quite a few people so, in the interest of keeping my friends happy, I decided to post another example of my bizarre works! They are usually done in a bored moment as a form of doodling, though I never consider where it is going or plan it out, I just let my mind fill the page as it goes. That way I get a surprise at the end too! Other examples I have already posted in this style of Abstract  are;

Abstract – ‘Shifting Scenes’ – Pencil Crayon Abstract

Abstract – Pencil Crayon – Black and White Chaos

Abstract on canvas panel – Oil painting

This is another ‘Red Abstract painted in oils part of my experimental range using up colours which never seem to get used up or run out. The irony of this series of paintings is that I did use them all and ran out so had to buy more! See others in this series posted also in Abstract

Abstractly coloured

This painting of a Local Scene is of a different angle to another post I have made in Landscapes, an oil painting called ‘Hidden Harwood’. The steps and tree in the centre of the picture are indeed the same. This is the only painting I have ever used acrylics for! Whilst the overall picture is okay, it is not the mediums I would have chosen. The church hall sat on the hill is where I meet with other artists. Their idea was for us all to paint the same scene as vividly as possible – in acrylics, which is what the majority there work in. It has got to be the fastest painting I have ever done, from initial sketch to completion in twenty minutes. Basically painted faster than the paint could dry!!!

'Shifting Scenes'

Shifting Scenes in My ”Forgotten Dreams of Crimson”

This play around doodle was done whilst scribbling in another of those ‘bored moments’ of “I don’t know what I want to do today?!” Rather than use black and white, as I have done in some of my other abstracts in this section. I wanted to see how I would feel about one in colour? To be honest, I still don’t know, I think I prefer the black and whites. Though I do like looking around the whole image and still finding things I don’t remember drawing. When I do one of these abstracts it is never planned and I restrict myself from holding the picture at arms length until I’ve finished. That way I think I get to explore it as much as others would on first seeing it. Whilst the picture is just made up of random shapes shaded, it is a voyage of discovery in finding little figure type people within the shapes. Simply, by the right hand bottom corner, having a little perspective, it made me think about the theatre and moving background scenes. Hence, the thoughts before the title!

'Hold it!'

‘Hold It!’

This is another in my series of ‘Red Abstracts’. The images on this painting seem to alter vastly depending on which way this picture is hung. I have chosen to edit it as it was painted with the fine person being tickled pink with a single feather and the drip almost a drop!

'One Goes Off The rails'

‘One Goes Off The rails’

This oil painting was part of my experimental range of Red Abstracts. I think I was in a period of feeling everything was getting to me – So I let it out onto canvas. Reds and oranges help to give a symbolic feeling of intense heat and rage. The subject, whilst still having some degree of heart left, bares the brunt of sharp tongues and persistent invasiveness. The title conveys the feeling of where ‘One’ might be heading!

The Philosopher and The Scribe

The Philosopher and The Scribe

Somehow, or just because, I decided one day to use up the colour pallet I rarely deal with when doing landscapes or portraits. Liking better to utilise than leave to waste, I thought the best way to make the colours useful being in the form of abstract art. To which point I became more and more fascinated with the series as they emerged onto the canvas in front of me. The irony of this is that as I got into the moment I ran out of the colours I was using and had to go buy more!

Letting my Brain and paintbrush work together leads to all kinds of results. Here is the finished creation. Even though I painted it, I still find things which intrigue me on the canvas!

"Chaos in My Head!"

Chaos in My Head?!, My ”Forgotten Dreams II”

Maybe an insight to where my mind goes sometimes. Somehow chaos and disorder seem easier to deal with in Black and White. I love doing these strange abstract pictures as each shape takes me to the next. There is no forward planning or initial sketch. I just go with the flow then enjoy finding ‘Things’ within my own picture, which I hadn’t seen that way when I was drawing it! Hopefully it will intrigue you too while you explore My Creation!!!
