Captured against a typical northern England sky. ..(I even brightened and colour enhanced the picture, which seemingly did little to lift the depressing grey spirited day :-/) Still, the first eagerly awaited flowers of my Wisteria, planted the best part of a decade ago!!!! Nature has it’s own set of plans…and my wishing along could change nothing…..
Tiny they may be…BUT, flowers nonetheless YAY!! After waiting for almost nine years since first planting the white flowering Wisteria, it’s the first sign I may have gorgeous long blooms next year and many more years to come……….
When I lived in Sydney Caren I had a huge wisteria tree in my garden and it had purple flowers. When I married I had photos taken there with my mum and dad. It was beautiful. Glad yours is flowering. Hope you have lovely stories with it too.
I bet your Wisteria tree made a lovely backdrop to your pictures Sue 🙂 I had no idea when I first bought the plant it would take so long for it to flower…but it was so exciting seeing the first tiny flowers a few days ago. unfortunately mine is planted in a large raised bed in the dog’s yard, not such a romantic setting ;-/ though it is doing well covering the long 6ft high fence and now it flowers too 😉
Wisteria is so pretty! I wonder if we can grow it in Iowa. I may have to check into that one! If so and I have to wait 9 years for flowers I had best get going.
Oh I hope you can Faye!! Maybe you could get a more mature plant from a garden nursery (I bought mine from a local supermarket and had no idea it would take so long to flower) It may cost a little more, but I’m sure it would be worth it not having to wait almost a decade 😉
YOU HAVE FLOWERS !!!!! wisteria is such a gorgeous plant, the morning you saw yours in bloom must have been worth the wait ~ even if 9 yrs is an awfully long time LOL
I laughed like a drain when you wrote you had brightened & enhanced the photo due to the grey skies …..:-) 🙂 🙂
By ‘eck…it was very exciting!! Peppy wondered what on earth I was doing dancing in his yard area??!! I bought it originally to cover the long high fence which was put up to keep him in, in all those years it’s done that lovely, and now…with flowers 😀
Good job you had a long term plan when you did the planting a decade ago LOL
Oh My!! When in the moment around a decade ago I had such a vision for our little patch, I even drew up triangular planting plans (as Alan Titchmarsh used to advise LOL) I bought all the reduced priced dying plants and brought them back to life creating a wonderful cottage garden theme….only Dearest couldn’t live with the overflowing border ;-/ all those years on and we’re back to almost bare soil and pots of striving seeds to start over! But, HeyHo need to keep the goals going I suppose 😉
Yay! I love wisteria. I planted one a few years ago but it got trodden on by someone and never recovered.
Oh No!! 😦 that’s such a shame Sarah, bet yours might be flowering by now if it had survived
How lovely!! 😀
Thanks Jackie 🙂 Looking forward to next years blooms already!
first time flowering is always special joy, isn’t it?
btw, the plant looks very pretty and healthy otherwise too! 🙂
It was a lovely treat for sure 🙂
