A colourful everyday bag/tote made from super soft brushed cotton/flannel fabrics
In my own quest to utilise all my left over fabrics from a previous project… I decided to keep with my theme of ”skewed squares design” and incorporate it into a unique little shoulder bag
Don’t you just make the cutest things!!
You say the nicest things, Thank You Sue 🙂
I’m eagerly awaiting each mini post in this edition of scrap busting makes …I love your ingenuity ~ gorgeous bag 🙂
Thank you for your lovely comments and support Mrs P!…It certainly has become a serious mission to combat these little scraps – can’t have them infiltrating the other scrappy classroom dwellers!
As term time draws to a close for the Easter holls you definitely need some scraps to graduate …to make room for the newcomers
Oh they are graduating all right…the scrap ma’am is standing for no more nonsense! ALL my colour coordinating bags are in for a shock 😉 I’m about to embark on sifting and sorting through process..possibly to make a quilt?? Though as one who prefers some kind of symmetry this is going to be a task in hand, without a doubt!
I know what you mean about being just a tad paranoid in the symmetry department 🙂 you will have to bite the bullet and go with just what the fabric dictates LOL
Good luck on gathering your ‘class’ together and embarking on a field tip to quiltland
LOL…now then, when you put it like that….it sounds like it could be very exciting ;-D!!…I shall store that thought, and let it grow, until it gets the better of me over the next few days, by then I ‘ll probably not mind a lot of Asymmetry on the design 😉
I fully expect to come across some of your work in our nearest town ‘Sleepy Hollow’ ~ I say town ..I’ve seen bigger villages …. we have The National Centre for Craft & Design which Moo & I are going to investigate during the school holls when we are planning an intrepid journey to discover all the quirky named alleys and streets of said town which we wonder pass on way to his school ~Asymmetrical could possibly be the next ‘big thing’ I’ll keep you fully informed of the crafting trends we discover LOL
Wow, sounds like you and Moo have a fascinating day lined up and great the he is so interested in your local street names to want to find out more…you might discover some famous people have streets named after them in your little village 😉 Oh DO keep me informed of the latest art trends down your neck of the woods…I could catapult the fashion out and about up here – hope Asymmetry has a little niche 😉
we drive past ‘Poor Garden Lane’ daily so that is on our list of to go to places, I’ll be taking notes on all the art trends on our travels to give you the heads up on current styles that are in vogue LOL
OMG that could be our address after Dearest ripped out all my lovely flowers the past two years!! Do see if you can find out if a Taylor lived there…maybe he has been living a double life ;-/ causing sad garden syndrome! YAY I’m sure the north would appreciate a little shake up in the current art appreciations 😉
Come the Easter holls Detective Moo & I will be on the case 🙂
Ohhh, Not lo…do you both have a Deerstalker and magnifying glass..??.. OR will you have to toss a coin LOL Not long to wait I hope your excitement for the adventure is building as mine is with the thoughts of letting loose my scrappy classes at the weekend 😀
I’m afraid we are still at loggerheads over who is Sherlock …I’m sure I need to be in charge ~I am taller after all !!!!
I do hope your scraps don’t become too unruly in your absence or the first day of the new term will have you reaching for the stout before you have finished calling the register LOL
…You think you are going to get your way??? Maybe not LOL 😉
I’m hoping to get them into line of an orderly fashion very soon…just not sure what the aim of the new project is as yet ;-D maybe just sew as you go…
Sew as you go sounds quite exciting 🙂 either way I just know you will have all your scraps in order and whipped into shape pronto
Tomorrow is ”tipping onto the table” day…..I feel like giddy aunt just thinking about it, wouldn’t you know it as well, our weather has allowed for the door to be wide open today, so, hopefully they don’t all escape with a gust of wind tomorrow… LOL I could be chasing those scraps all over the garden!!
‘Tipping onto the table day’ YIPPEE I’m sat here waiting with bated breath so see what magnificent creation will appear from your emporium 🙂
….Just when you lose an hour already, Dear old fluff ball decided to wake even earlier than usual ….no never mind…I had the kitchen bleached to within an inch of it’s life before 8.0 am…’Found’ 3 loads of washing for free ‘lecky’ day..winner!! pushed the new manual mover round our sliver of grass….then set to!! I kind of have a plan in hand?!? MUCH colour and many squares…maybe more than that…(for goodness sake the pile will not seemingly diminish…Aaaargh) I’ll putter on, albeit putting great demands on the cotton industry, until I have a finished piece – going well so far really;-)
Gosh I’m cream crackered just reading your comment !!
I have visions of colours & patterns being arranged then re- arranged until a pleasing effect sparks your imagination ~ good luck ..not that you need it 🙂
In an idyllic world where time is endless….I would definitely go with your methods!!…. However, my approach is grab and go with whatever scrap comes to hand (I have somewhat sorted into sectional colourways, though even that is going by the board at the manic sewing is progressing) in three days I have managed just 28 squares (5.5 x 5.5”), still in their untrimmed stages, but the pile is growing 😉 Initially I had plans to make…wait for it…294!…for a large quilt ;-/ A definite redesign is now in my plans…otherwise…I may just have to climb a tree and throw myself off LOL Looking very, very colourful though!
It sounds magical, a quilt full of colour ….. and stories to be told of how the fabric came to be incorporated, a quilt of passion and intrigue let alone thwarted temper tantrums …. did the maker really intent to climb the nearest tree aiming to throw herself at the mercies of the crafting Overlord???
I’m reading far too much into your comment aren’t I LOL
I’m totally enthralled in your analysis do I have an arch nemesis??…maybe that is the real reason for climbing the holly tree??!?? Prey, do continue with you illuminating tale, I’m sure it will get me through this new make! OMGoodness that aside LOL I have decided upon a much simpler design with FAR, FAR. FAAAAAAARRRRRR fewer colourful squares, otherwise I’d want at least..a 1,0000000000000000000000000.00 for the original thought design LOL just to keep me in the asylum whilst I recovered… 😉
Sorry ~ trying to play catch up, where does the time go !! you have finished said quilt & I’m still trying to finish my comments LOL
