…..Unless commissioned for more…My last Place Mat Sets for this festive season π
Having grabbed, a couple of meters, of a beautiful gilded holly berry print, cotton fabric, in the summer sale (…and paying for it of course..lol!) I couldn’t wait to set to, on the final ideas for a couple more place mat sets for this festive season. Steadily through the year I have also been sourcing red and green fabrics too… ‘cos, believe me, when it hits September time, all the red and green gets moved from the normal craft fabrics into the considerably more expensive Christmas craft cotton section ~ shame on the store for doing that, I say!!Β Anyways, I’m wise to that now…but, a super tip for those just getting going in fabric craft, source your stuff early!!! π
Going, once again, with my favourite design of the year, ‘Skewed Squares’!! I just love doing them, they’re so simple, takes not a jot of thinking about, next to no scrapage of fabric, even after trimming as you go, AND…best of all…they are super striking, Β a fab burst of festive spirit for even the smallest of dining tables ;-D

Set two π
Both these hand quilted sets are completely machine washable and can also be ironed, so will look as good as new year, after year….after year!!

Packaged…and,

…ready, for a new loving home π
So pretty Caren. How lovely will they look over the Christmas period.
Thanks so much Sue! I hope they wing their way off to a lovely home π
More fabulous place mat sets – they really are great. I didn’t know the stores did that with their fabrics, how naughty. Wonder if I’m too late? Must get to my ‘local’ fabric warehouse and chance my luck.
Thanks so much Sheila π
Nor did I!!…but, last year I had been eyeing up several fabrics (waiting for Dearest’s pay day lol) and, when I went to eventually buy some, the whole section of normal craft cotton was depleted of any kind of red/green fabrics, at first I thought everyone else had beaten me to it….so resigned myself to the dedicated x-mas section…lo and behold, there were the fabrics I had been waiting to buy ;-/ I even went to ask if they had been left in the wrong section at the till as I had seen them previous in the normal area ‘NO, they are definitely in the right place!’ was my reply. So that’s why I started stashing back in May!! π
Hope you’re not too late and you find lots of goodies!! Happy shopping π
Another success on the Christmas crafting front, you must really be in the festive season by now LOL
Great tip about sourcing your seasonal fabric early,
Thanks so much Mrs P π must admit to be nursing a bit of rsi after this last batch, so, bit of a rest day….only managed to conjure up two large x-mas table centre mats today LOL..still need to quilt and hand finish the binding though π
Hope it helps others not to get bitten by the shop’s!!…I was most disgruntled when the fabric I had been waiting to buy had been moved ;-/
LOL “a bit of a rest day ~ only 2 large Xmas centre mats” only you could call that a rest !!
Boo hoo at the RSI hope you perk up soon & are back to 147 pieces of craft per day π
LOL…already the wrist is feeling much happier today…might even get half way to the 147 again by the end of the week, though the two mats should be finished by the moro π
Is it RSI or the old Arthur i tis that is plaguing you?? I think the old Arthur is attacking my elbow …there will be L to pay when I catch up with him !!!
So far, touch wood, I’ve not needed to add Arthur to my ever growing list of adversaries !! Definitely rsi, after all the turning back of fabrics on the skewed mats, as the pieces are so narrow it takes a few goes with some pressure to get each to lay flat before adding the next neatly (could iron each one, of course, but I’d be like jumping jack flash LOL up and down like a yo-yo..plus Peppy is at my heels every time I move ~ Poor old soul would be exhausted after just a set of four ;-/) Just one lot of ironing done at the end before quilting…specially since we have one of those new fangled smart metering thingymabobs!! Every time I press the steam button and the darn monitor thing red lines and nearly takes off for the moon..so, trying to save on energy! Obviously…in the long run, the NHS will now have to bear the brunt of energy savers like me;-)
An attack of the Arthur to you elbow sounds very painful π¦ If I were you I’d give him a double L if you can catch him !!
OMGoodness the thought of you red lining the lecky meter thingy LOL no wonder Peppy stalks you so he must wonder what on earth you’re up too, I think I’m feeling Arthur in my elbow more this week is because I’ve been doing a lot of gardening & heavy work, hey ho at least we are mostly fit & healthy
I think age is starting to creep up on us, don’t you?!! Once I could while away a whole day in the garden shifting two tons of slate in barrows, these days I’m lucky to get up off the ground after weeding for half an hour;-/
Visions of you and Beloved in your best arrow jumpsuits, singing the blues and chain-gang whilst shimmying around the garden tasks on hand
Your spycam is spot on LOL
Are you sick of Christmas yet? π Thanks for the tip on the red and green fabric.
LOL to be honest, it’s the colours which drive me crazy ;-/!!… staring at reds and greens really hurts my eyes, I think I have just about adjusted so will plod on a little while longer with a few different things…
Good luck with the plodding. Do you never do other Christmas combinations? – blue and silver?
You know I actually have, and for years nothing in those colour ranges ever sold at fairs!! Which actually meant…that we do have a black, blue and silver themed conservatory at Christmas every year now, using things I made!! I think it looks very modern and chic π maybe I was too forward thinking back then and should try it out by testing the market again??! ;-D
Go on, get those conservatory decos on etsy and see if the world is ready π
You know, you have given me a great idea :-D!! Next time Dearest is available over a weekend I’m sending him into the loft to search out some things I made (obviously years of Taylor dust, means they themselves aren’t fit for Etsy….) But….I’m going to select my favourites and have a colour re-jig, search out some new fabrics and let the ideas flow through OOO Very excited…watch this space π
Excellent! Look forward to seeing them π
Haven’t had time to shop yet…but, after digging through my stash have come up with a little combo which I hope will work for now π
