Okay…now we are in September, I don’t feel so guilty about showing off Christmassy things LOL 😉
Recipe: 1)Grab a large selection of Christmas cotton fabric off-cuts, 2) Sew any which way (which, slowly, but surely, WILL drive you crazy!!), 3)Trim to desired stocking shape, 4) Sandwich with cotton wadding and backing and then hand quilt, 5)Repeat for reverse of stocking (Or, as I did, reserve a little sanity by doing a plain one with cross hatched quilting, 6) Add hanging loop between front and back pieces, bind, then hand stitched to finish!

A simple, sanity saving, hand quilted plain cream cotton reverse!
If, by this stage, you don’t feel compelled to take yourself off to the local recovery centre….try it all again LOL ….Take two!!
Okay…three solid days of craziness….I’m off to book myself in…right now ;-D !!!
You make it sound sooo simple ..which I know isn’t true !!!
The stockings are delightful & sooo cute ~ I can just picture the roaring log fire, snow gently fluttering to the ground, and little ones brimming with excitement 🙂
I know, even I was in quandary many a time in their making!! they look so simple but just get your head in a complete maze!! I was going to make more, but, for now, I’m shifting my mindset!!
Little ones, Brimming with excitement ~ that would be you and me then, right?? LOL ;-D Hope we do have snow this Christmas!!!!!!
Of course the little ones are you & me 🙂 we didn’t have any snow last winter boo hoo maybe this year
LOL…I’m going to get ‘Merlin’ on the case first thing tomorrow, after all he can’t just stand around in my garden with his spell book out without practising some more, and, if I do it now..he should have time to get it right for Christmas this year!!! 😉
Oh please do get Merlin on the case, how wonderful would it be to wake up to snow on Christmas Eve morning
It would certainly be like a blast from the past!!!….that is, as long as I have done all my shopping and don’t need to venture out 😉
Perhaps we ought to put a memo out for parents asking Santa for a bike for Christmas for their kids that we have put an order in for snow !!
Good point!! Santa needs to bring snow shoes for the parents during their need to run up and down the street with learner bikers!!!
I’ll have my camera ready LOL
🙂
It will take a large liquid one to recover from each of these I think! So many different pieces. Start the xmas cheer now!
You’re not wrong there !! I might even be tempted to break open a little bottle of stout!…even though, it isn’t yet a Friday 😉
I love patchwork Christmas stockings. This one’s fab!
Aww thanks so much Bekki 🙂 They are a little mind bending to do, though as long as I keep a mantra going”..must make sacrificial pieces to keep moving forward…!!!” I do get there in the end ;-D
Sacrificial – you make it sound like Wicker Man 😉
LOL!! I can tell you….it nearly was at one point !!;-)
🙂
That reminds me, I’ve been asked to make a Christmas sack for our granddaughter the same as I made for The Boys last year. Is it that time of year already? Someone will love these stockings:)
Doesn’t it come around so quickly??the older we get???! I made a special attempt to crack on this year, though, it always feels so strange to be doing Christmas things in the middle of summer! I’m sure your little creation will be treasured by your granddaughter for many years as her favourite thing to hang on Christmas eve when she’s older 😉
I hope so as it’s the kind of thing you look back at fondly when you have your own children. I’m not doing too well on the Christmas present front yet this year. I need to get this shawl finished first and it’s taken up most evenings all Summer.
Your shawl is beautiful and so very delicate, I suspect it is a labour of love to see the finished end result!! 😉
