New projects for friends, family and Etsy too – like this latestΒ design!
This little shoulder/hip bag/tote is perfect for everyday use when you just need a small bag for a few essential items! Lightweight, fully lined and colourful too! Padded and quilted with some simple embroidery detail and a few buttons to finish the look! It is completely reversible with an extendible base – just in case you find a little unexpected bargain on your travels!!!
The last few weeks seem to have had me lost in clouds…of….new projects…gifts for upcoming events…for both friends and family, and, I still have a couple on the go, but here’s the finished few π

The first part of a handmade gift for my great nephew twins, some simple little decorations to hang in their bedroom – buoyΒ boy!!! were those little bunting flags fiddly to attach to the wire! The completed boats are only 3” wide by 9” high, so you can imagine how small the triangular flags are. I found some florist wire and a small mixed pack of balsa wood pieces, which have been residing FOREVER in my supply cupboard, so, a Stanley knife and some imagination, plus a couple of holes here and there, a few picture hooks, combined with some leftover fabric to match their cot quilts (I made earlier in the year) resulted in two little boat baptism gifts. I have two patchwork cushion covers also on the go to commemorate their precious day too – more on those soon!

Quilted heart tote. A little gift for my dear friend’s grand daughter. Hopefully big enough to carry essentials for a lovely day out with her grandma :-)!
PHEW! I have much to worry about….will they like them?? I hope so π
Beautiful ames. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, you’re so talented at everything you do!
Thank you for your lovely comment Bekki . LOL I think my bestest is….. being able to create a gigantic mess whilst I’m making/doing something π
π
Mmm ‘ames’ I’ll translate, I meant to write ‘makes’ Goodness knows how my fingers got in that much of a muddle!
LOL my fingers do that a lot, especially when I’m typing on skype with my daughter….it can certainly add humour to the convos at times π
I love the present for your friends grandson… that are the things we keep furever and what become like a part of us :o)
Thank you so much π I think it’s nice to have something to grow up with, and to be part of our childhood memories too
What a wonderful collection of new makes, I have crafting envy at your talent π glad to see you have been so busy LOL
Awww thank you Mrs P! Your comments always make me so happy! I have needed to keep an active mind of late (due to mental turmoils ;-/ LOL) I hope all is moving in a good place with K9 :-)??
I’m not surprised you are in mental turmoil what with your great nephew twins christening gifts !!! it looks like a project worthy of the ‘Krypton Factor’
Your Dear Friend’s grandson will be a proud owner of his own heritage quilt what a great start to life
K9 is oh so slowly improving – I don’t want to jinx his progress so lets just say he has a few gold stars on the calendar, and has been really good on his daily walks of late – due to it being blackberry / apple windfall season- so we pick a few for him as a treat, and he’s allowed to pick up an apple a walk …he now officially eats more fruit than me LOL
I’m so pleased to hear things are moving in the right direction for K9 π I bet he eats more fruit in a week than I’ve had in the last year – at least it should keep him regular!!!LOL
Great news ! I finished the other part of the handmade gifts today for the twins (scratch that worry!..replace it with an even bigger one!!!…the In-Laws TO BE are coming to stay in a couple of weeks!!!)…….will I be able to hide all my materials and equipment in time to make the conservatory look like a dining room again?????? By doing so…just how high off of the floor will everyone’s beds be????? Should I think about renting out another house..either to move my stuff into OR probably easier to leave my stuff here and move our family into it instead LOL
ARRGGHHH Wp keeps deleting your comments saying they are spam!!!!!!!!!
Do you have a tent to put the in Out -Laws in ?? Afterall Glamping is soooo on trend, and just give them a tray on their knee, dining rooms are sooo last year LOL
If only Sheila from Sewchet had put her post for the teepee up sooner, I could have whipped one up for the back garden, mind you with the weather as it is up here atm it would have to be made from heavy duty waterproofing, probably a tented life raft would be apt π Never having been up here before they played it safe and booked into a lovely hotel for the weekend, but I might give the tray on the knee a whirl with their cream teas after all I converted their son to eating from his lap! π
WOWZER they have booked a hotel room for your crafting bits and bobs ???? …that’s jolly good of them LOL
OMGoodness I wished I had known sooner they were going to be so considerate?!?! ;-/
….for the last few nights we have had to muster ourselves into eight foot high beds (due to the high capacity of stashes underneath them!!!) Plus, having low ceilings means that if you lie on your back inadvertently through the night your nose gets soooo squashed, there is a danger of suffocation!
I think I need to talk to my future Son-in-Law about more advanced planning LOL
The bags are great and the boats just delightful – what a good idea as a commemorative gift. Such a sweet quilt too, your friend must be so pleased with it.
Thank you so much for your lovely comments! The boats were inspired by typing contemporary Christening gifts into the web, as I had no idea what the current trends were, it’s been such a long time since we had new members to our family!
My friend is thrilled with the quilted cushion cover gift too π
The boats are so charming!
Thank you Irida.:-) as I mentioned to Sewchet I found inspiration after browsing the web, not my usual way, but as it’s for a present and I’m not going to be going into production to sell them I thought they were a cute idea to make as keepsakes π
My you have been busy! Lovely totes, boats and bear. I just popped into your Etsy shop and saw your frog doorstops, I love them!
Thank you so much both for your lovely comments and also for popping over to my shop π The frogs are a lot of fun and one of my favourites too π
I’ve had great fun catching up on your projects. Your monochrome pictures are great, and your fabric creations are perfection as usual. I love the little christening boats – absolutely adorable. It sounds like life is keeping you on your toes so good luck with all that. My best wishes to you Caren. X
Aw thanks so much Sarah, for having a look and of course your lovely comments:-)
Now my marathon clean is over and our visitors have gone, I think it will take only a tenth of the cleaning time to reinstate all my stuff and then life can get back on track π
And my Very Best Wishes to you too Sarah, Hope you are keeping well xx
I’m fine thanks, just busy, you know how it is. π
I Certainly do π
