Pin-wheel lap quilt
A strikingly simplistic, but altogether beautiful, simple piece of fabric art! Chose a couple of coordinating fabrics, make a few squares, chop them up, and sew back together…add lots of hand quilting….and… a sight to behold! This worked even better than I had imagined 😉
Enjoying it’s final wash, and blowing in the Spring breeze, my little make of the week! A whopping 13 hours a day for seven days…Yep, that’s 91 hours of loving labour!!!!!! … has gone into producing this stunning little lap quilt – SO, I would say the price is a steal in labour costs alone!!! Trying to show, that patchwork doesn’t have to involve thousands of colours and stupendous patterns to be beautiful 🙂 !

Pin-wheel fabrics close up!
Just two fabrics have been chosen to complete this little masterpiece….well actually, three if you want to include the cream cotton backing! It is one hundred percent cotton through and through, as it had a pure cotton wadding layer too, which means it can be ironed after washing – perfect!!
…..Did I mention…it has ALL BEEN HAND QUILTED TOO!!! 😀
What a gorgeous lap quilt! Classic simplicity – I love it. Beautiful work! 🙂
Thanks so much Jackie 😀 It was a week well spent I think…after all, I had to amuse myself as George has been busy with work before his next term starts 😉
I understand! I agree – it was a week well spent! 😀
Wow! That’s just amazing Caren, it just goes to show that simple designs done well can rival any complicated one. Someone’s going to get an absolute bargain – 13 hours, 7 days a week?! You really must be doing it for the love of the craft:)
Thank you so much Sheila :-), so often I think, less IS more! ..and these two fabrics and a few triangles really worked well ! ….so much so, this crazy woman – LOL !! – …has started a blue and white version today 😉
Oh my goodness, how ultra stunning !!!!! your eye for colour really brings this project to life, your description of how you whipped up such a delight sounds so simple …..I know this is not the case !!!!! as I who has made one ever so easy quilt in her life can testify to
Aw, thank you most kindly Mrs. P 😀 !!! In a need to stop talking to myself (everyone this week has been so busy!)
I indulged myself with chopping triangles, and started singing badly to myself instead LOL!! I am so happy with the little result…that, I dove into my fabric stash, and, have no less commenced upon a blue and white version this very day 😀
I wondered, if after seemingly mastering the breathing and rotary cutting technique for your first masterpiece, you might some day have another go ??? 😉
