Finished forget-me-not quilt
OMG! How many stitches can you put into a 6′ x 4′ panel???? at least double your thought and and then add another two million!!! Then you might be half way near to the quilting in this little creation!!! I can’t put into words the joy of finishing this little piece – never has a project been on the go for so long – interrupted by day trips with family, subsequently contracting crafter’s lung (as diagnosed by Mrs.P) more trips after a successful recovery then projects for Etsy/Commissions/Life in general… eventually back to find this awaiting unfinished project in a lonely bag!!!
I won in the end! This little creation has been playing on my mind for almost two months!!! Though already, and only finished two hours ago,( I couldn’t wait for better light to take the picture…!) it has a new owner – My Dearest is snuggled beneath it as I type….:-) There could be no other owner than him, as it has little Forget-Me-Not flowers and lots of hearts in the design!
I have been promising him a larger lap quilt for ages, but always they have been spoken for, or intended for My Etsy shop. As winter is approaching, it is a great time to be making these little lap quilts, though I won’t be able to put in 13 hours of sewing each day as I have for this baby! Dark nights have me a new plan, I am about to embark on a new batch of paintings instead – Dipping a brush into paint, by candle light, is much easier than trying to thread a needle when you are past 40!
…..Oh My!… I think I hear snoring?!? Obviously it is comforting too! π
Beautiful quilt and delightful story. π
Thank you so much Sarah π
Beautiful, beautiful quilt (a little wasted on a mere man??) You make it sound so romantic “dipping a brush into paint by candlelight”……and then you go and spoil it with the snoring!
LOL! π
I know what you mean about it being wasted on a man, but I have high hopes I might get a new pencil sharpener for Christmas in return!!!! ;-/
The quilt came out so beautiful! I love it! The time you put into it clearly shows. I hope your Beloved appreciates your efforts and enjoys it for years and years to come! I know my naps would not be the same without the one you made for me. [ https://carentaylor.wordpress.com/2014/07/08/lostinthot-personalised-designer-handmade-and-hand-quilted-custom-order-36-x-48-art-lap-quit/ ] I’m an avid fan of all your work so I’m looking forward to seeing your new paintings. π
Thank you so much Jackie! π I’m so pleased that you are still enjoying you lap quilt it really was one of the most exciting enjoyable projects I have done!!!
Having completed all the chores I mentioned, and a few more besides (I was not really enthused – more driven by not having a conscience about starting something else first) I have no qualms now about getting stuck into all things creative and messy from tomorrow completely conscience free as the house is so tidy and clean!!! π
I’m so glad to hear that you’re chores are all finished so that you can begin your creative projects tomorrow with a clear conscience! Yay! π
I really am chomping at the bit to get going, but am forcing myself to have a day off instead ;-/ Enjoy the rest of your weekend Jackie, I hope its been good so far? π
Check your email! It’s good to rest a bit before getting going again – enjoy your day tomorrow!!! π
Love the design, I just don’t have the patience for projects that take so long, but the looking at this id say the finish is worth it!
Thank you for your lovely comments :-), As ever I just set off with my own ideas in mind for a bunch of fabrics and let it develop – no complicated patterns to follow….’tis much better that way I think, then at least if all goes wrong, nobody will now ;-/
