ARMCHAIR BUNNY KNITTING! One of my new collage creations…a scene inspired during a conversation some time ago with MRS P. http://craftodyssey.wordpress.com/about-3/ Mrs. P has constructed the most brilliant gigantic floral fabric bunny which travels with her as a front seat passenger to and from craft fairs, whilst talking about it she mentioned giving it some giant knitting needles and a pot of tea on a little table – well… this is my interpretation… on a tiny scale ! :-)Having finished my latest commission last week, a large lap quilt, designed as both a memory quilt and a Wedding gift for the happy couple to be, My Lady was uuuuber thrilled when she called to collect it..YAY!.. AND, I have permission to do a post about it after the Wedding when the couple have been given their unique personalised gift! So, after the 23rd of August keep a look out for that one! 🙂
Some of you may have seen my little creations of ‘Sheep knitting’ collages before, which include little knitted items on toothpicks, and, as they have proved quite popular, I thought I would down size my craft projects this week (but increase my table mess into the bargain!) to make some new ones, with a few new characters knitting as well! As mentioned above, Mrs. P’s bunny was the inspiration for me to create a couple of inside knitting character scenes. As ever, the couple which I planned…turned into a dozen unique original final framed works of art! 🙂 which are now resting for a little while in my Etsy shop!

Below are a couple more examples 🙂

Sheep in Wellington boots collage
…’they told me it was the only pair they had!’ was going to be another option for a title after seeing the expression of the front left sheep! 🙂
Your creations are utterly brilliant, I love them to bits, the way you bring the characters to life is amazing….the facial expressions are magical. How your creative mind works is beyond me, you must have a million ideas bursting to see the light of day. You are too kind in mentioning ‘Awesome Rag doll Rabbit’ she is off to ‘The Workplace’ this weekend for the summer fate. Neurotic Cat was sooo impressed that you have depicted her in the knitting rabbit collage I intimated it might not be her but she wasn’t having a bar of it so I have just let her get on with it 😀
Thank you so much Mrs. P for your lovely comments :-)! Quite how my mind works ??? is beyond most people…including me, most of the time. I think its a fine balance of creativity escaping to allow for keeping a degree of sanity in tact ;-/ It has amazed me all the years I have been drawing, just how much a little line can change the overall picture of something, so by adding little stitches this way and that just adds to the fun of the end result 🙂
I hope ‘Awesome Rag Doll Rabbit’ has had her agents promoting her arrival as celebrity guest at your Workplace Summer Fate? I’m sure she is looking forward to all the attention which I am in no doubt she will get from her admiring audience! 🙂
…as for Neurotic cat, who I am to mess with thoughts in her delicate mind ;-D
Alas one is not in the least artistic, apart from my temperament of course. I can not stop my self being caught prey to the green eyed monster when viewing a hand produced drawing … or indeed any craft that eludes me, still as Beloved reminds me frequently my talents lie else where, not everyone can scrub a stone floor or beat a rug to within an inch of it’s life. Still I bow to your prowess with a pencil and needle and thread, without your skills the world would be a less enchanting place….and of course one can & does dine out on tales of our acquaintance 😀
I am in no doubt of your temperament being of a wide spectrum, which obviously makes you an artist… when choosing your moments ;-)!!!
I’m afraid I lack any of your skills and talents in the rug beating department and, of course, your apprenticeship as scullery maid has stood you in good stead of being the best scrubber in your little village.! (…OF FLOORS I MUST ADD!!!!!)
I thank you most kindly for your very generous acknowledgement of my little self taught indulgences…and I am indeed amazed to have become a little topic of conversation around your select dinner parties! I fear I may be in danger of becoming popularised in my own lifetime, You know how recently this happened to Leo???…da Vinci that is!!! How it be, to have more than one shiny silver coin to share the polishing of with my Dearest !?! Do keep up the attempt on my behalf, I beseech thee ;-/
LOL I will recant your fears of popularisation at the next weekly meeting of the ‘Scrubbers & Rug Cleaners Guild’ spend your shiny coin wisely ;-D
Shock! Horror!! The very thought of spending that coin leaves me feeling faint!!! Its sole purpose is for deciding, on the toss of the said coin, whether Dearest, or I, shall sweep out our hay bed in the corner of the room and make a fresh one! Even after years of polishing he hasn’t yet noticed it is two headed …and I always get to call first…being the ;Lady of the house !!! 😉
Oh my days you do make me laugh….. so much so I spat out my gin, now I have to suck the parchment in fear of wasting a drop. One does hope you will be making use of the discarded hay, there has been a revolution in the village of weaving the strands together and giving it to the menfolk for breakfast….’Shredded Hay’ we call it 😀
My Word! That explains everything!!!…I heard the Town Crier make mention of all the ‘horsing around’ by the menfolk of a said Lincolnshire village…!!! Now I know why ! ;-/
By the way, not to worry about the gin you misjudged swallowing whilst laughing aloud….parchment is terribly absorbent and all dribbled contents will be safely stored , just keep sucking 😉
I can’t really add much more to what Mrs P said seeing as she summed it up so well! Your work is amazing and your creativity is endless! All of these collages are fantastic. I love each and every one of them. Thank you for sharing them. Also, congratulations on finishing the quilt! I look forward to that post as I do all your posts. 🙂
Thank you so much for your lovely comments and kind words Jackie. I’m always thrilled that you admire my little creations so much 🙂 ! I am looking forward to showing the Wedding quilt post, but I do wish I had taken more pictures of it before it was collected by The Lady, but I’m sure it will still give an overall picture of how unique the Lady’s ideas for the panels were!
I’m sure it will be fine! 🙂
Thanks so much for your support and confidence boost it mean a lot to me:-)
Love them! Each animal has it’s own character. Very quirky and original. Look forward to seeing the wedding quilt – the feeling you get when someone loves your work is wonderful, isn’t it?
Thank you so much for your kind comment 🙂 I am looking forward to The quilt post as it will be unlike any other quilt in the world. I think My Lady was verbally recommended to call on me as being able to do mostly anything… as you will see from her requests on the panels when I do show it. I’m just sorry not to have got more and better pictures of it before it left me, a combination of the Lady’s excitement to pick it up and the weather here not good enough to hang it high on the washing line for full effect, means I will only have the indoor shots to post, I hope it still gives a good overall effect of it though 🙂
As for the feeling of someone liking your work, firstly, I was so relieved, as I had been stressing so much over how to interpret her ideas onto material then secondly came the overwhelming sense of elation and satisfaction of knowing I had achieved what she wanted and made her so very happy too! 🙂
…What more could an artist and crafter want…???? 🙂
Your collages are so clever and fun Caren! They are full of character and I spent ages looking at them, so much detail and very original 🙂
Thank you so much Jennifer ! 🙂 I absolutely love making them, but I do make a heck of a mess when I do, I have so many scrap fabric bags now, I can never decide what is where.??… so, needless to say, I usually empty them all out, it’s nice to remember the little bits left over from different projects – and, it does make for a very colourful crafting table – which, of course, always makes me happy!!! 😉 I have many more ideas , which I’m sure I will eventually get around to making – there just never seems enough time ! 🙂
Your work is fantastic!
Thank you so much for your lovely comment Colin, its always really nice to get praise from a fellow Artist! My little fabric creations are a lot fun to make, I do still find time to paint, though, it would be a lot easier if I had separate workspaces for art and crafts 😉
