I’ve been wondering (again recently) why my family nickname me ”Crazy woman”, though, as I was taking this photograph of my new group of doorstop dumpies, I suppose I can probably see why!?! What more could I want than a cute collection of characters to chat to? As each one was finished I explained to it who the next one was going to be. Needless to say, they were so in awe, they were speechless! I could almost see the excited anticipation in their little button eyes! Only after I finished the cute little miss piggy dumpy today (AND Tidied up!) did I let them all get together to meet each other. Their eagerness at seeing the others for the first time was evident, as they flung their arms open in warm greetings. (I’ve left them talking amongst themselves on the sofa whilst I put up this post :-)! ) I don’t suppose they will share the gossip with me though, they are too good at keeping secrets!!!
Now I have a clear table again… I feel it pulling me toward it ….for more……………………………………………………………………………
…..Creative crafting 🙂
Wonderful!
Awww Thanks Sarah 🙂 Who knows what they are talking about while I’m on the computer!
They are wonderful. Why doorstop – do they sit next to the door to prevent it from hiting the wall, or what? In my opinion they fully deserve sitting on the sofa.
🙂 Thank you for those lovely comments.
I originally designed these little characters to sit at the foot of the door to hold it open, as in hot conditions to let through a welcome draft, where otherwise a door might slam closed. Though lately, the purchasers of the most recent ones have been so overwhelmed by them they too have given them pride of place on sofas, window ledges 🙂 (so they can cheer passing people) and no end of loving cuddles and as company companion characters to their workplaces!!! I think this is also a wonderful thing, that my little (or in these cases, substantial character creations) are versatile enough to be more than their original purpose, giving, ”UNCONDITIONAL LOVE” as my last purchaser said.
After leaving them for a long while to get acquainted on the sofa, they are now all lovingly tucked up for the night! 🙂
I adore your dormouse dumpy, but I know our cats would chew poor mousie’s whiskers off!
Oh dear, I suppose that would never do , a whisker-less dormouse :-(. I have never had a cat, for some reason we are mutually incompatible (they don’t seem to ever like me and I am afraid of them – as I have had a couple lunge themselves at me over the years – probably because they sense my fear) Though I never realised that cats ate raffia, or even any plant material, or is it just that they would destruct for play fun? Cats are really their own boss and make their own minds up over these matter I assume 🙂
Our cats are really our kids and aren’t the classic ‘be your own boss’ type. Very affectionate and sweet. However, they still like to chew on things that are new and sticky-outy and sitting near the floor! 🙂
I’m sure you have learned to keep your toes under wraps then;-)
I love your Doorstop Dumpies! FloraJoy (the name I gave my dumpy elephant) is happily doing her job now. She thought spring would never come! 😀
Oh that’s wonderful news Jackie! I know you have waited for such a long time to have Florajoy hold back the door in your new apartment. And, it tells me your Spring weather is warm enough to let on in now 🙂
Beautiful work, they do look like they are putting the world to rights sat chattering away on the sofa, shame they put the wine bottle out of view when you took the photo LOL
Just how did you know that?!? 🙂
There was a lot of chinking of glasses, just behind me, as I put up the post last night. Sad to say they didn’t save any for me! But they did sleep ever so soundly when I settled them later 🙂
Oh snort, how did I not see this earlier. There’s a miss piggy! Oh dear, she’s so cute, how on earth am I going to resist her… (You know, I’ve now given away TWO dumpies, and am left with none :-/) Who is the little purple owl character she is holding?
She is so cute so so cute 🙂
:-), Thank you so much for your lovely comments ! 🙂
I realised when I was getting out my new fabrics for this new range of ‘Doorstop Dumpies” that I always seem to make the pigs and frogs with a little boy/man theme (why I don’t know?) so I made a firm decision to make them more feminine. And, the colours suited more to little misses! So I made a floral frog holding a heart cushion, a deep pink circle cotton print pig with lace trim and wonderfully soft velveteen ears and arms and the plaid/check/soft purples piggy holding a little comfort cushion. I have been creating a little range of ‘Cute comfort cushion characters’ and that little owl type one seemed to be shouting to me ‘I want to be little miss piggy’s comforter!’ So, who was I to argue with it? I brought them together and they complemented perfectly I think :-)! It was also my first thought too, that she looked so very cute holding her character comforter so carefully. Sometimes, I think, little things just make them more special and add to the overall character of the little creations. I am so please you like the new ones, I took a leap of faith by investing in the new more expensive wool mix fabrics hoping they would make up just as well as the older versions, and I am thrilled with the results! It really makes me happy to know they are so admired. I am sorry to hear you are now without both the ‘Dumpies’ you have been so lovingly ”fostering”, I hope their new forever parents are just as happy with them?.
