In this picture, I dreamed up an idyllic scene in my head, of people arriving by hot air balloons, to a remote location, on a beautiful Summer’s day. The excited crowds would have enjoyed all manner of activities; jesters, music, and dance, even perhaps a circus in the far distant tent. There would have been food stalls providing the merry people with refreshments all day long… The bench sitting in the foreground would be the ideal vantage point for all the goings on…eventually, the end of a perfect day…’SCENE’ From a Bench – ‘After The Fair!’
This series of pictures have all been done using Oil Pastels and in each one I have placed a Bench. Always the same bench but sometimes I’ve flipped it around to suit the angle of the scene. All the pictures in this series are from my imagination and are drawn to give maximum illusion to the perspective of the landscape around and create as much depth as possible in the small images. Hence the series title, ‘ “SCENE” From A Bench’ !
AnElephant loves your work.
But is disappointed at how few Elephants he sees here.
Thank You AnElephant, I have especially put a new creation on my site with a little poem (of your style) to describe my newest moment of crazy creativity, I hope you will like it, its in my ”Doorstop Dumpies” section!!!
I found your post quite symbolic. As I write this, we are witnessing one of the hottest days here with the mercury shooting up beyond 45 deg. C. Not sure therefore if folks who would have chosen to ride the hot air balloons , would have liked to land here. Even though this place, specially the beach side, is as idyllic as you have painted…..:)
The other thought that comes to mind is whether in such temperatures, the balloons would not just keep going up and up, refusing to come down.

Thank you for your lovely comments Shakti :-). I think you are quite right about landing on scorching sand in temperatures so very high, it wouldn’t be ideal, but as you say with all the heat you have, you mightn’t be able to come down that easily either! I’m pleased my little imaginary pastel painting resembles someone’s visions of where they live too. Thank you for stopping by and taking time to comment as well 🙂
